چکیده

In this chapter, we consider the problem of global stability of nonlinear sampled-data systems. Sampled-data systems are a form of hybrid model which arises when discrete measurements and updates are used to control continuous-time plants. In this paper, we use a recently introduced Lyapunov approach to derive stability conditions for both the case of fixed sampling period (synchronous) and the case of a time-varying sampling period (asynchronous). This approach requires the existence of a Lyapunov function which decreases over each sampling interval. To enforce this constraint, we use a form of slack variable which exists over the sampling period, may depend on the sampling period, and allows the Lyapunov function to be temporarily increasing. The resulting conditions are enforced using a new method of convex optimization of polynomial variables known as Sum-ofSquares. We use several numerical examples to illustrate this approach.

Design of Polynomial Fuzzy Observer-Controller with Sampled-Output Measurements for Nonlinear Systems Considering Unmeasurable Premise Variables

In this paper, we propose a polynomial fuzzy observer-controller for nonlinear systems where the design is achieved through the stability analysis of polynomial-fuzzymodel-based (PFMB) observer-control system. The polynomial fuzzy observer estimates the system states using estimated premise variables. The estimated states are then employed by the polynomial fuzzy controller for the feedback con...

Global Stabilization of Attitude Dynamics: SDRE-based Control Laws

The State-Dependant Riccati Equation method has been frequently used to design suboptimal controllers applied to nonlinear dynamic systems. Different methods for local stability analysis of SDRE controlled systems of order greater than two such as the attitude dynamics of a general rigid body have been extended in literature; however, it is still difficult to show global stability properties of...

On finite gain Lp stability of nonlinear sampled-data systems

It is shown that uniform global exponential stability of the input-free discrete-time model of a globally Lipschitz sampled-data time-varying nonlinear system with inputs implies finite gain Lp stability of the sampled-data system for all p ∈ [1,∞]. This result generalizes results on Lp stability of sampled-data linear systems and it is an important tool for analysis of robustness of sampled-da...

Particle Swarm Optimization for Hydraulic Analysis of Water Distribution Systems

The analysis of flow in water-distribution networks with several pumps by the Content Model may be turned into a non-convex optimization uncertain problem with multiple solutions. Newton-based methods such as GGA are not able to capture a global optimum in these situations. On the other hand, evolutionary methods designed to use the population of individuals may find a global solution even for ...
